Deborah is the founder of Cooney Financial, Inc. and is a CPA as well as a licensed stock broker, investment advisor representative, and insurance agent. Deborah was born in New York but moved to Clearwater as a young child. Deborah graduated from Countryside High School, then went on to St. Petersburg Junior College, and eventually Florida State University, where she graduated with a double major BS, Finance and Marketing, in 1990. Shortly after graduating from FSU Deborah earned the Series 6, Series 63, and Series 7 investment licenses. When her first daughter, Elizabeth, was born in 1994 she decided to return to school at the University of South Florida to pursue a MAcc (Masters of Accounting) degree. Deborah put her studies on hold (for two days) when her second daughter, Teresa, was born in 1995. Deborah earned her CPA certification in 1997, and finished her MAcc in 1998. Deborah started her tax and accounting practice in 1998, had two more children, Jennifer in 1999 and David in 2003, and continued to grow the practice. Cooney Financial, Inc. moved to the current office location in 2013 as a result of the continued growth necessitating more space. Deborah has more recently begun to focus on the investment side of the business, earning the Registered Investment Advisor license (Series 65) in 2015. In addition to performing all functions related to investments and insurance, Deborah still oversees all of the bookkeeping, accounting, and tax preparation in the office. Deborah’s favorite part of her job is meeting with her clients and helping them with their financial decisions while providing them encouragement.
